We probably won’t have to introduce Paul Morel, as lots of foodies have already enjoyed his heavenly drinks at e.g. Pure C and The Jane. This year Paul has decided to focus on his own projects, like Paté & C and theme-nights at secret locations.
Mexican food and cocktails
We were present at the latest session in Paul’s secret hobbit inn for a night of Mexican enjoyment. This was foodie heaven, with surprising drinks, delicious cocktails and authentic snacks.
Plenty of tasty snacks were awaiting us while our cocktails were being prepared with the greatest care. On our table – or safer to say the wooden barrel we were sitting around – we could find typical Mexican tapas, like ceviche, nachos and bean, quinoa and lentil salads. To quench our thirst, we were served infused water, negronie and mescal.
The main drink of the evening was the Pisco Sour, which is luckily so delicious that it is hard to get enough of it. The amount of herbs present in the drink is absolutely baffling. We sadly cannot remember the exact number of herbs Paul used in his secret recipe.
Our next appetizer were line-caught sardines and canned mackerel with olive oil. No more prejudices about canned fish for us, because these preserves from Nuri are marvellous.
Meanwhile we were also tasting beer from the Struise Brouwers and a 10-year-old Liefmans kriek beer served with tortillas with pulled pork and all kinds of Mexican flavorings like guacamole, sour cream, chimichurri and many more.
The second round of tortillas was one with octopus.
We ended the evening with a surprise of smoked apple cider.
Yummie! Thanks to Paul Morel. We are already looking forward to the next session with delicious drinks and snacks. We combined this evening with a night in HotelO Kathedral. You can read more about our experience at the hotel in this article.
