Friday afternoon in the center of picturesque Middelburg. The ice cold Zeelandic air surprises us when we get out of the car. Lovely winter weather that makes you long for a cozy living room, a fireplace, and a beautifully decorated Christmas tree. When we open the door of the stately building where Boutique Hotel The Roosevelt is situated, the homey, comfortable feeling we longed for immediately overtakes us.

Comfortable at home

You will not see a classic reception when entering, but instead a cozy bar, a restaurant, and a pleasant seating area. One of the hostesses immediately comes to give us a warm welcome and she guides us straight to our room where we can peacefully install ourselves. We also get some tips about the city and the surroundings. Nice!

Ideal starting point

The hotel is situated in the center of Middelburg. The historical city center has quite some monuments, beautiful waterways and cozy little shops. The beach is only 15 minutes away and the ‘Veerse Meer’ is also very close by. Next to strolling in the streets you can enjoy good food and drinks in Middelburg. Enjoying life the Burgundian way.

As beautiful as the surroundings can be, sometimes you just want to stay in the hotel, which is an excellent idea at The Roosevelt, as you can just stay in your room, taste the fine food or relax in the private wellness. In summer, there is also a terrace with a beautiful garden, where barbecues are organized regularly. In winter, when it is too cold to sit outside, you can still overlook this small oasis of calm.

Unique and authentic design

Since the hotel is situated in such a unique building, no room is the same. The design of each room is unique and that way extra emphasis is put on the authentic elements. There are for example big suites, duplex rooms or spaces where the bath is included in the sleeping area to create an extra spacious luxurious feeling. There are also more ‘standard’ rooms with their own uniqueness and character available. Bath robes, fine bath products and in-room coffee complete the pampered feeling.

Breakfast is prepared with great care here. There is a plate with goodies such as rolls, fresh fruit salad, yoghurt, and plenty more for each table. To start the day off properly, a nice egg is of course included, prepared à la minute to your preference. The icing on the cake is a surprise that makes the breakfast every day just that little bit extra special. We got delicious smoothies and pancakes for example.

It is not just the food that we have enjoyed at Boutique Hotel The Roosevelt, our entire stay was very enjoyable. There is no better combination than a homey and luxurious feeling, and that is exactly what characterizes the philosophy of the hotel. Everything is personalized, tailored and classy.
