At the most central location in the old city centre of Munich – just in front of the famous Glockenspiel am Rathhaus at the Marienplatz – you’ll find a brand new, ultramodern and super stylish hotel called BEYOND. It’s the latest addition to the impressive portfolio of the Geisel group – the renowned hospitality family that owns several top notch hotels, restaurants and bars in Munich – and it’s beyond all expectations.

BEYOND showcases timeless elegance with modern furniture design, from the famous pen of the architecture firm Nieto Sobejano Arquitectos based in Madrid. Entering the hotel lobby rather feels like entering a living room, but one that’s probably much fancier than at home. In a relaxed atmosphere you can make yourself comfortable in the funky library, showcasing books from the ground up to the ceiling, combined with video art and one-of-a-kind decoration items. Next to the huge library there’s an open kitchen by Gaggenau and a spacious and airy seating area where you can sit back, relax and sip on a glass of wine. Everything feels really laid back and discrete, so you immediately feel at home. And of course there’s the very attentive staff and the concierge who personally welcome all guests and can help out with any question they might have.

Stylish and hip rooms to unwind

At first sight one might wonder where they’ve put the rooms in this amazing hotel, as the doors are seamlessly integrated in the walls. All 19 bedrooms of the BEYOND serve as comfortable places of retreat in the midst of the vibrant city centre of Munich. The rooms do not only impress with the unique location and fabulous views: they are up to 57 m² large, equipped with state-of-the-art technology and designed with a lot of passion. With 1,060 m² Munich’s biggest suite is also located at BEYOND.

At BEYOND they say they have a passion for design and a devotion for comfort. We couldn’t have found a better description, as everything looks indeed very exclusive, chic and stylish, and is just as much practical and comfortable. The rooms are spacious, home automation is integrated in a smart and helpful way and even ‘details’ like plenty of desk space and plug sockets – which come in handy if you’re writing an article like this – are well thought trough.

Top quality bathroom amenities, like the soaps of Aesop, make the bathroom feel like a spa. And with fresh fruits, a smart TV and sound system and a mini bar and 24/7 room service, everything is in place to feel pampered and spoiled.

24/7 delights with the culinary package at BEYOND

In the open kitchen you can grab some food and drinks from the fridge or you can ask the chef to prepare a meal of your choice. That means 24/7 fun for foodies like us. One of the unique offerings of BEYOND is their culinary package. For a fixed price you can eat and drink whatever you like. Just choose your favourite pick from the menu.

We sampled some wines and tried an appetizer platter, a pasta with scampi and flammkuchen with smoked salmon. Since there’s always room for dessert, we also had a selection of cheeses and a super tasty crême brulée.

During our stay in Munich we had the pleasure to discover two more places managed by Geisel. At Restaurant Werneckhof – their culinary flagship holding 2 Michelin stars – chef Tohru Nakamura and his team pamper the guests with a flavourful, creative Euroasian cuisine prepared with top quality produce. It’s a must visit place for fine dining lovers, so we can definitely recommend booking a table there. After our visit to restaurant Werneckhof we spent the night at Schwabinger Wahrheit, another nice hotel concept by Geisel, located at just 5 minutes walking from Werneckhof.
