Schwabing: the place to experience the authentic urban Munich

Schwabinger Wahrheit by Geisel is located in the nicest district of Munich, called Schwabing. This urban location represents the real Munich. Spacious streets with nice houses, lots of parks, trees and a variety of restaurants and bars. We suggest renting a bike or going for a walk to discover the English Garden, an amazing oasis of green in the heart of the city. It’s even more impressive than Central Park in New York. Having a drink at Die Goldene Bar, discovering art at Haus der Kunst or witnessing how surfers steal the show at the artificial Eisbach Wave, should all be on your bucket list. As a declaration of love to this cult district in Munich, there could be no better name for the hotel than Schwabinger Wahrheit by Geisel.

Introducing the hybrid hotel concept

Since 2018, Schwabinger Wahrheit by Geisel is managed by Geisel Privathotels, owned by the fourth generation of the Geisel family. When they took over the place, they transformed a rather classic business hotel into what they call the first hybrid hotel in Germany. The combination of an urban city hotel, a trendy business hotel and a very relaxed atmosphere, appeals to pretty much everyone. Whether it concerns families with kids, youngsters or business guests, they all seem to like the laid-back vibe, the hip and simple design and the smart and comfortable spaces. The experienced and passionate team makes everyone feel at home in no time.

Smart and simple designs create unique rooms

All eighty contemporary guestrooms are smartly designed with light colours, natural fabrics and natural daylight. Besides double and twin rooms, Schwabinger Wahrheit by Geisel has various suites with surprising elements like a sauna, a bar or even a ping-pong table. The rooms all start from a simple and smart design but get that unique twist to take things to another level. Another novelty are the team rooms at the hotel. Those rooms consist of six single beds with a storage room and two compact bathrooms. These rooms are perfect for families, small groups of friends or colleagues. We stayed in the terrace room and were pleasantly surprised by the smart, hip and simple design. Certainly a room with enough desk space, hooks and coat racks.

Maxi fun in the mini spa

Quite extraordinary and unique for a hotel like Schwabinger Wahrheit by Geisel is their mini city spa. Tip: go exercising in the funky vintage gym, then continue the sweating in the sauna and finish your little wellness break with a fresh shower and some time in the outdoor jacuzzi. Not into sweating or swimming? You can also just relax in the reclining chairs at the sunny terrace.

Bye lobby, hi meeting place

The central area in the hotel is all but a traditional lobby. It’s a place where you can meet up with your travel companions, with colleagues or friends, while enjoying a coffee or a glass of wine. In the morning there’s a nice and pretty extensive breakfast buffet for guests to enjoy. All in that relaxed atmosphere that’s so typical for the nice district of Schwabing.

At Restaurant Werneckhof by Geisel – their culinary flagship, holding two Michelin stars – chef Tohru Nakamura and his team pamper the guests with a flavourful, creative Eurasian cuisine prepared with top quality products. Before we visited Werneckhof by Geisel and Schwabinger Wahrheit by Geisel, we spent the night at BEYOND by Geisel, another nice hotel concept, managed by the same group. This super stylish, hip and cosy design boutique hotel in Munich is located in the heart of the city centre and offers a stunning view at the famous Marienplatz.
