Although many travel brochures will recommend a visit to the West Coast of Phuket, the South East is just as worthwhile. With its amazing views on the neighbouring islands and mangroves, charming fishermen villages like Rawai and not to miss activities like a visit to the Promteph Cape and the Old Town of Phuket, this side of the island has so much to offer. The most quiet area of the rather crowdy Phuket has stolen our hearts. And we’re sure our stay at The Vijitt Resort had something to do with that as well.
A perfect place to relax
The South of Thailand is well known for its amazing beaches with stunning views, fantastic weather and nice people. In the South of Phuket life is slow, the scenery is breathtaking and the vibe is tranquil and friendly. No overcrowded tourist beaches here, but staggering, relaxing locations.
The Vijitt Resort has been a trendsetter by providing tourists with simply perfect luxurious holiday villas in the area of Rawai beach. Situated on a small beach, adjacent to green lawns with palm trees, the resort is an ideal hideaway for both couples and families. The tidal beach at Chalong Bay overlooks a myriad of offshore islands providing an extraordinary backdrop to indulge in fine services in a laid-back ambiance. The Thai owners and friendly staff wear high priority to hospitality, so they provide a warm welcome and personal service to all guests. The elegant architecture of this hotel in Phuket perfectly complements the tropical surroundings and is designed to be eco-friendly using natural materials whilst incorporating a distinct local style.
Spacious and tropical private pool villas
The Vijitt Resort is built up by a set of villas that can accommodate couples, but also bigger families. The individual Phuket luxury pool villas offer amazing sweeping views over the resort grounds and the calm turquoise sea. They have Southern Thai style interiors featuring soothing earth tones and large windows resulting in a serene contemporary space with all the modern amenities required for a relaxing stay.
We had the opportunity to stay in one of the larger Prime Pool Villas, offering a private space of no less than 178 sqm. Upstairs, the master bedroom and bathroom give direct access to the balcony and private pool. The bathroom is equipped with a cosy outdoor rain shower and a luxurious bath. To grant a good night’s sleep guests can choose between a harder or a softer matrass when they check in. And a basket of fresh fruits and a fully filled minibar is at your disposal upon arrival. To create a real holiday feeling, there’s also a fountain in the swimming pool, providing guests a lot of fun and a welcome refreshment.
An exterior stairway leads to the light and spacious living room and wardrobe on the lower floor. There’s also an extra bathroom and minibar on the ground floor. A stay in the prime pool villa feels like a stay in an apartment instead of in a hotel room, far more convenient.
Serenity and peace in the V Spa
As you can expect from a good class holiday resort, there’s also a spa at The Vijitt. It’s a haven of tranquillity surrounded by nature where the team loves to pamper the guests, leaving them with a renewed feeling of peace and wellbeing. The letter ‘V’ represents the five senses: sight, smell, sound, taste and touch that are stimulated during the wide range of treatments and massages that can be enjoyed in solitude or with a special loved one.
Dining with a view
As The Vijitt is located in a tranquil area, it’s very convenient that they provide interesting dining options without you having to leave the resort. From breakfast over lunch to snacks and dinner, the resident Thai chefs assure high quality dishes prepared with fresh, local ingredients.
At The Savoury and the Beach Bar you can enjoy a variety of Western and Thai dishes all day long. In the morning you can watch the sunrise on the beach, while sipping on a cup of coffee, before indulging in the extensive breakfast buffet. In the afternoon there are shakes, fruits and snacks to enjoy at the pool. In the evening it’s time to try some cocktails, before having dinner when the sun sets. For those who prefer to have an intimate dinner in privacy it’s possible to arrange an in-villa or beachfront dining and BBQ experience in a romantic candle light setting.
Baan Vijitt is the name of the Thai style restaurant at The Vijitt Resort. The Sino-Portuguese architecture and decorative antiques are extraordinary. Situated amongst tropical gardens with scenic sea views, Baan Vijitt is a serene setting that adds romance to any meal time. The tantalising menu presents classic dishes, sometimes with a contemporary twist, that acquaint guests with the Southern Thai cuisine.
For wine amateurs there’s also The Wine Cellar, a charming and chic small building where one can select a nice wine for any occasion.
Activities to remember
A true USP of The Vijitt Resort is the variety of attractive activities they offer to their guests. Whether you like sports, culture or food, there’s definitely something to do for everyone. Each week guests can choose to join group or private activities, like beach hikes or botanical walks, a natural rubber tapping initiation, Thai boxing ‘Muay Thai’ sessions, yoga or aqua gym classes or trips to Phuket Old Town, Rawai Beach or the Promthep Cape.
We went for a trip to the historical Old Town of Phuket, with its cosy atmosphere and colourful Portuguese style buildings. There are many nice authentic restaurants there to discover. And we were extra lucky, as the Phuket Food Festival just happened to take place during our stay, so of course we just had to visit this unforgettable event. It was a fantastic experience, with more than 100 food stalls offering all kinds of local and exotic dishes and drinks.
In short
For those who want to enjoy the beauty of Phuket, without having to deal with crowdy beaches and overtourism, The Vijitt Resort is the perfect place to go. The private pool villas provide stunning seaviews and tropical settings, that instantly get you in that relaxed holiday mood. Ideal for both couples and families.
