Great food, travel and artisans; these are the topics we usually write about. In short, this means that we mostly report about hotels, restaurants and crafts. But then we thought, why not cars? These too are refined creations that can be enjoyed in the same context after all. And moreover, we just feel the same passion and excitement. To be able to link all those refined topics, we went away for a weekend with the new Jaguar F-Pace. The destination was Maasmechelen in Limburg, and more specifically the place where the Terhills hotel and restaurant Danny are located.
Stylish for the weekend
We pick up the Storm Grey Jaguar F-Pace in the morning full of enthusiasm. But let’s start with a brief introduction of the F-Pace. This new car combines the luxury and performance characterizing Jaguar with convenience. A car not only suitable for traveling or for cruising, but also an everyday car. The spacious trunk and convenient format make sure that we can easily find a place for our luggage.
Elegant design, glorious look
The car’s design is inspired by the F-Type. Despite the robust frame and the large size, the Jaguar F-Pace is characterized by an elegant, sexy look. It’s all about presence, and you do not expect anything less from this brand, do you? All this makes sure that it is nevertheless a very special SUV.
Under the bonnet of the Jaguar F-Pace
The car we are traveling with is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel with 180 hp and four-wheel drive. If you like a little more power, the range also includes a 380hp 3.0 V6 petrol engine with compressor.
Smart luxury
The luxurious finishing is immediately noticeable, even more than the motorization. The seating comfort is of a very high level thanks to the firm leather seats offering a perfect view on the road.
The panoramic roof is pretty spectacular, partly because of the size of the car. After all, more space means more glass, more light and sense of openness. While driving you need to get used to the somewhat futuristic interface, which appears to be quite simple and user friendly. A series of active safety features improve the comfort level even more. You will be confident behind the wheel in this car, that’s for sure. An innovation that we find quite cool is the Activity Key which is a waterproof, portable key in the form of a wristband making it possible to leave the key in the car and actively go out without having to worry. The Activity Key locks or opens the car when you come near the trunk.
Talking about the driving experience, we can say that flexibility, comfort and luxury are key. No kicks, but stability, strength and grace. Before we even know it, we have arrived at our destination. Everything goes smoothly, almost silently.
Maasmechelen: our destination
Just a quick word about our destination, the Terhills hotel in Maasmechelen, which is ‘picture perfect’ in combination with the Jaguar F-Pace. The stately building, the elegant garden and the rough setting of the mines could almost be compared to the car. They all combine a tough character with a form of pure elegance and class. Hungry because of all this beauty? Excellent, because at restaurant Danny they are expecting us for a strong dose of culinary indulgence. Through the window of the restaurant we have an amazing view on the beautiful gardens and the gorgeous car that is sparkling in the early spring sun….
